Embedded Creation Flow in Analyze

Summary

  1. Updates saw a 90% increase in reports created the month after release.
  2. Boiling down the workflow to its most basic 3 steps, and showing requirements with progressive disclosure allowed users to keep focus on one step at a time before the report is loaded.
  3. Providing easy ways to filter payers and providers gave users more context around the types of providers and payers they were comparing.

Staff Product Designer at Turquoise Health

Turquoise Health is a healthcare price transparency platform enabling patients, payers, and providers to negotiate contracts, search rates, and more.

Updates in infrastructure enabled the team to load reports in the Analyze app faster. This negated the need for an entire workflow to set up their report, and instead allow the user to manipulate their reports and data live.

Before

  1. Reports required 6 distinct steps & pages before running: Focus, Cohorts, Utilization, Visualizations, Review & Run.
  2. Reports often took around 6 minutes to run, sometimes could take up to an hour.

After

  1. Number of required steps to run reports was cut in half to 3, and all on one page: Comparison, Data Source, Cohorts.
  2. Reports take less than a minute to run, sometimes as fast as a handful of seconds.
  3. Progressive disclosure and guidance on decisions was implemented to increase confidence in the report results.
